Make your own toppings

Try sautéing fresh fruit lightly in a little sugar, or toss in a little fruit liqueur. Drizzle slightly warm honey or dark maple syrup over each slice just before serving. Top with some candied lemon zest or lemon curd for a sweet and tart accent.
